I'm ConviTutor's founder. I built it because of what I was missing as a teacher. That goes back to 2011, when I was studying piano, with seven years of trumpet already behind me. My teacher noticed something, asked me to mentor beginners, and that's how I ended up teaching. I kept adding instruments. These days I don't play as much, but the chops are still there. I'm like an old NBA coach: high IQ, even if my fingers won't quite run the plays anymore. Years of lessons showed me what was missing: a real home for a student's learning. Lesson notes lived in a notebook, homework went out by text, practice happened in nobody's memory, and parents only heard about it at recital time. So I built one: lesson notes with files and videos, assignments and grades, practice tracking, and progress parents can see. The pricing came later. ConviTutor takes no commission on your lessons: you keep about 93%, and the rest is card fees and keeping the lights on. Marketplaces earn their cut for the first introduction. Taking 18% to 33% for years after, on a relationship that's now yours, is something else. The value comes from the teacher, so the teacher should keep it. Free for up to five students. ConviTutor is an independent project, and I intend to keep it that way. It comes out of three things: software, music, and teaching. The teaching part left me with a simple philosophy: every student walks in with a different goal, so one-size-fits-all lessons don't work. Maybe you want a few songs for your family, the church choir, or deep jazz theory. Whatever it is, the lesson gets built around it. I'll teach the same way here, whatever the subject: entrepreneurship, a mentorship program for developers, my teaching philosophy, maybe some piano (lol), and whatever my subscribers ask for.
